Real Wedding: Jenny + Drew

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_column_text]

As a follow up to this Inspiration to Reality teaser – I thought you deserved to see how the dreamy day really came together.

The couple was gifted a beautiful mid-October day. There was a crisp and fresh note to the air as guests arrived at St. Chrysostom’s Church for the ceremony. Nestled on a residential block in the heart of the Gold Coast, the church opens up to a beautiful courtyard that seemed built to perfection, for a dramatic Grand Exit.

 [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13088" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

During the ceremony, we hung the church doors with greenery wreaths, complete with the couple’s married monogram.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="5842" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

And as friends and family of the newlyweds poured out of the church doors, each snuck fistfuls of bold fuchsia petals to shower the glowing couple as they departed.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13089" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Guests arrived to The History Museum for a cocktail hour held (cozily) indoors in Robinson Gallery. The escort card table featured a floor-length sequin linen, blue china vases with bundles of fuchsia garden roses and spray roses, and a collection of special photos of family members on their wedding day, captured years prior.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13090" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Crisp white linens and white chiavari chairs were paired with whimsical navy and white striped chair cushions and darling lacquered urns of boxwood spheres.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13091" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The bridesmaids’ bouquets were collected at the start of the cocktail hour (free hands for bubbles and bites!). They were composed of fuchsia garden and spray roses bound by navy and white striped grosgrain ribbons.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13092" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The low centerpieces were designed in oblong white ceramic vases and also featured a lush mound of monochromatic fuchsia roses.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13094" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Alternating centerpieces gave the room dimension and volume. The elevated centerpieces were composed of an oversized tailored burst of foliage, accented at the base by (faux) candlelight and petite floral arrangements.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13095" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The cake was especially delicious…baked by the bride’s (and the wedding planner’s!) favorite bakery in town – Sweet Mandy B’s.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13096" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The ceremony altar arrangements also got double-use as pretty focal pieces at the reception.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13097" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The couple dined with darling, special flatware.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13098" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Once the escort card table had been cleared, we loaded the shimmering sequins with platters of sweet treats, bowls of candies and lollies and sacks of cotton candy.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13099" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]Jenny, Drew and her family were such a true pleasure to work with…from the day we all met for the first time, through the very last dance. Bliss wishes them continued best wishes and SO MUCH LOVE!!  [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

The Knot Chicago: Erin & Eric

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_column_text] The Bliss Buzz continues welcoming Chicago into spring! We could not be happier to have one of our gorgeous summer weddings at The Chicago Botanic Gardens featured in the new issue of The Knot Chicago. [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="10799" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text] Our Bliss Beau, Jesse Deckard, started his full service planning career, building off of his extensive design background, with a bang; creating a fete inspired by the charm and ease of the couple and their relationship. Erin & Eric (also known as E2 celebrated with 200 of their friends and family last August on a beautiful Chicago summer day. Their ceremony took place in the Rose Garden under an ethereal yet organic canopy of whites and greens with simple chiffon blowing in the breeze. Real Wedding Teaser - Inspiration Board

One of our favorite clients of all time was married this past fall.

The wedding ceremony took place at the super-charming St. Chrysostom’s church, nestled on a residential street in the Gold Coast.  And the reception?  Bliss fave - Chicago History Museum.

JEH had a personal style meant for us.  Layers of J. Crew and accents of Kate Spade – modern updates of classic styles.  When she said she was toying with a color palette of Navy, Fuchsia, Kelly Green and Glittery Gold we thought we would die!

We would be honoured to help bring THAT vision to life!

As a little teaser, we would like to share the inspiration board we created in the early stages of our planning process.  This visual, conceptual tool was used as inspiration for everything from attire to stationary to florals and linens.

Stay tuned to see how the inspiration board came to life this past October!

Oscar Party 2014

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It’s time for the Oscars!!! We are excited for our favorite awards show of the season and it’s the perfect excuse for a party. Most Oscar parties will focus on black, white, gold, and perhaps some touches of red, with an Art Deco vibe. However, we love the unexpected!

Instead of a black and white throwback to Old Hollywood, choose a color palate that is fun and playful by taking inspiration from confetti. Set the scene with a fun piece of décor such as colorful tissue garland. Adding onto the bright colors, we love the new popcorn dish by powerhouse design duo, Courtney and Robert Novogratz, with its perfect pops of color. Be sure to upgrade that popcorn with one of these fun recipes. Or, spice up the movie theater classic by trying out one of our favorite simple popcorn tricks: add truffle salt for a savory touch or Hot Tamales for a sweetly cinnamon spin.

No Oscar party would be complete without some bubbly, but why not garnish your champagne with rock candy? If you want to take your cocktailing to the next level, we love this fun twist on Jell-O shots.

Don’t forget to print out your 2014 Oscar ballot and while you’re there, check out the great tutorial for a confetti mani to complete your Oscar party hostess look. We can’t wait to see what looks our favorite stars will be rocking and who will take home those prized golden statues!

Real Wedding: Meghan + Steve

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Meghan & Steve are such a fun and laid-back couple to be around that planning their wedding was a total joy!  When they came to us, they weren’t sure exactly what they wanted for their big day other than great food, beautiful décor and an abundance of personal touches.  When we decided on the Redfield Estate in Glenview for their ceremony and reception, we just knew the gorgeous lush grounds would be the perfect fit for an intimate celebration with both romantic and rustic touches. Even though their ceremony had to be moved indoors at the last minute due to weather, Meghan & Steve remained happy and telling jokes the whole time.  The indoor space for the ceremony turned out to be a beautifully intimate space which we covered in plenty of organic greenery and garland to bring the outdoors in.  Thankfully the weather cleared and guests moved to the courtyard for cocktails where they picked up escort cards placed on individual stems of craspedia set up in a bed of green moss.

Working with a color scheme of soft grey, mustard yellow and clean white, Fleur created laid back florals in a mix of vintage milk glass and turquoise glass placed on grey washed farm tables.   Timeless elegance was added to the tablescape with luxe crystal cut chargers, lace table runners and etched glass stemware.

After a delicious dinner, guests danced the night away taking breaks to snack from the abundant cheese bar or the sprawling sweets table adorned with several types of cake and an array of mini sweets all displayed on vintage cake pedestals.  As a late night surprise for the groom, a custom cigar roller accompanied a cigar & whiskey bar!

Fall Wedding Inspiration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Well its officially Fall as of a few days ago! Pumpkin spice lattes are waking us up every morning, we have been shopping for new boots and pulling out our cozy sweaters from storage (and we have of course been sipping on fall-inspired cocktails!). While we just adore a gorgeous summer day wedding filled with sunshine, there is something special in the air with a fall wedding on a crisp autumn day. Here's some of our favorite fall wedding images currently inspiring us: [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7130" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{gorgeous photos surrounded by the changing leaves}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7131" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{a lush fall inspired bridal bouquet}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7132" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{harvest inspired centerpieces of magnolia leaf, pomegranates, garden roses & hibernicum berry}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7133" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{a tasty muddling bar to warm guests up from our inspiration shoot featured on Style Me Pretty right here}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7134" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="7135" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{a cake adorned in a rich fall color palette}[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

INSPIRED BY: Kate Moss' Boho Flower Girls

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We are still swooning over the images of Kate Moss' romantic bohemian English countryside nuptials.  When a wedding is that beautiful and perfectly executed it's hard to get it out of your head!  We were recently reminded of Kate's entourage of impeccably styled boho flower girls when we opened the most recent email from BHLDN announcing their new Flower Girl dresses.   It is hard to go wrong when selecting a pint-size outfit for your flower girls since they tend to steal to the show at the ceremony (right up until the bride appears of course!), but we suggest going with the timeless ease of a bohemian flowing dress in shades of off white or ivory accessorized by a floral halo crown of course!  [/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/1"][vc_single_image image="5923" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

a little springtime

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We don't know about you, but we could sure use something pretty to look at today to take our minds off the miserable rainy weather outside. Here's a little board of sunshine to remind us that all these April showers will bring a beautiful May!

Kiki Party Inspiration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hopefully you have already seen a few of the sneek peaks on our facebook page from our fabulous Kiki Party that we threw a few weeks ago to celebrate the new Bliss studios (if not then head over and check out those shots right here). Next week we will be sharing all of the fun images from the bash, but today we have a little inspiration board behind the party's theme! The entire party theme was based off the catchy Scissor Sisters song "Let's Have a Kiki" - be aware that YOU WILL get that song stuck in your head all day long! Along with the marrrrrrvelous kiki theme, we used a bright color scheme of bright pink, emerald green, rich navy and silver sequin (just so happens to go along with Bliss' signature colors!) You will have to check back next week to find out about all the other kiki details that guests were treated to...  [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7182" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Sprinkle Eggs

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Happy Easter from all of us at Bliss. We will be enjoying chocolate bunnies, poppy seed muffins, Renny's family cheese grits, deviled eggs (mmmmmm) and honey baked ham.  Mostly we will enjoy time with family and friends and will love watching the kids go on an Egg hunt in their Easter dresses and suits.

We will be hiding these eggs this year.  Who can pass up sprinkle eggs?  Maybe we will find one or two.  The kids can't have all the fun!

Here is the how to from Studio DIY

Inspiration for Waldorf Astoria Planners Dinner

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]At the end of February , our own Jesse Deckard created all the design for the Belle Vie Bridal Couture show hosted at the Waldorf Astoria in downtown Chicago.  Along with a beautiful fashion show for brides to be, the event included a decadent private dinner for some of the top names in the wedding industry.  Here is Jesse's inspiration behind the impressive dinner tablescape and next week we will share the gorgeous images from this fabulous dinner.

When I found this gorgeous image online, I knew I must one day turn it into an event. The play of the sharp black and white with the crisp fresh green in such precise lines inspired my 32 foot long feasting table for a luxury dinner for some of the cities most elite. Translating the impressive molded black door, a solid linen of sparkling sequins was created creating base of this creation. Then bold black and white striped cushions and napkins were used at each place setting to mimic the charming canopy. Finally and most importantly, solid manicured boxwood hedges ran down the center of this feasting table with glorious bursts of areca palm fronds creating a solid profusion of verdant green against the very stylish black and white.

Real Wedding: Kristin & Ted

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Renny had the pleasure of planning a wedding this past August for an adorable duo, Kristin and Ted. After saying their I Do’s at the St. James Cathedral, their beyond stunning reception took place at the historical Drake Hotel. Positioned right along Lake Michigan, The Drake Hotel was the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous reception that had hints of a preppy, nautical vibe (not to mention, Ted proposed to Kristin outside the Drake under the gazebo). The décor centered around a classic navy and pink palette with stunning pops of gold as seen through the flowers by Cornelia McNamara, while the table numbers were street names of Chicago that had personal meaning to both Kristin & Ted. The cake was by a local bakery on Oak Street, Sarah’s Candies, and was positioned under the couple’s wedding monogram that hung above the head table. Olivia Leigh Photographie was there to capture all the special moments, we had a hard time choosing them for our blog! Congrats Kristin & Ted!

DIY Pumpkin Painting

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It's official, with these recent chillier temperatures in Chicago, we have gotten the Fall Fever. We are now welcoming the overwhelming Halloween sections that we have been ignoring for over a month now and will be searching for our perfect pumpkins soon! 3. Your choice of Ribbon (add in sequins for extra glam)

4. Scissors

Step One: Cut your Ribbon's into your desired length.

Romantic Reception: Behind the Scenes

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We have been patiently waiting to be able to share with you all the behind-the-scenes look at our CS Brides shoot for their new issue out today! We were thrilled when CS Brides asked us to be one of three wedding companies to create a tablescape around the color scheme of "Blood orange and tangerine". Our creative juices instantly started to flow. Renny had just gotten back from a beach vacation with her family and we were obsessed with the idea of incorporating tortoise, that mimicked a pattern on some shells she had picked up along the beach. Here are the inspiration boards we came up with:

We enlisted the help of the creative genius, Jesse Deckard from Event Creative and hit the pavement! After much collaboration, Jesse was able to turn all our ideas into a reality. He created the beautiful white lacquered scalloped table, the antique chairs with the adorable peach and white stripe cushions, the beautiful flower arrangements and he even added in his personal tortoise vase collection! What a guy!!

It all took place at the gorgeous Public Hotel on their Ava Terrace that provided the perfect city backdrop! It was the perfect mix of preppy, romantic and city charm.

The classic charm from the original 1926 building still exists. Our romantic reception setting was a flawless fit.- Renny

The Bliss Belles working their magic!

Elizabeth Grace stepped up to provide all our pretty printables for the day, used to label our candy in our candy caddy, the notes for our welcome boxes given to all the guests, and the placement cards to ensure our guests were seated correctly. Multiple vendors help to create the perfect welcome box that awaited each guest in their rooms. So Cute & Cozy personalized not only our guests' napkins but also their robes so they could relax after the big night. Carols Cookies provided the perfect late night sweet while Mother Butters covered the savory aspect. we think both would pair perfectly with a night cap of Grand Marnier! A Jo Malone travel candle and Laura Mercier body scrub also had a place in our welcome box to insure that each guest can indulge to the max!

Our finished product!

Our candy caddy to calm your sweet tooth!

Obsessed with the peach and white stripe chairs that Jesse created!

Thank you for everyone who helped make this happen. We had a blast and hope you all enjoy this pristine partyscape as much as we do!!
