Becky & Nilay: A Boldly Beautiful Affair

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Becky and Nilay's two — you heard us right, two! — magnificent celebrations were infused with touches of contemporary glamour and cultural beauty, making for a truly magical day that was just as vibrant and joyous as this amazing couple that met while they lived next to one another in a dorm at their alma mater, the University of Chicago.

While it may have taken Becky and Nilay eight years following their first encounter to begin dating, they could no longer deny their love for one another and have been inseparable ever since.

The former dorm neighbors became engaged and wanted a wedding day that was a perfect representation of their multi-cultural backgrounds. The day began with a beautiful Hindu ceremony in the ornate ballroom of the JW Marriott. Becky walked down a flower-petal-lined aisle in a dazzling gold and red sari while surrounded by oodles of bold-hued flowers. Following their first ceremony, the couple said their 'I Do's' in an evening Christian ceremony that took place at the uniquely modern Bridgeport Art Center.

Guests then headed to the ultra modern and chic Skyline Loft at the Bridgeport Art Center for the couple's reception. From sequin-adorned table cloths and accessories to lush pink floral centerpieces to a 60' projector screening the couple's favorite videos and songs, this reception was filled with bold hints of glamour, modernity and pure bliss.

Congratulations, Becky and Nilay![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7086" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="7087" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="7088" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]Thanks to Studio This Is for the fabulous photos and to all the other talented vendors that brought this magical day to life!

Bliss Featured on Style Me Pretty Midwest

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Bliss is absolutely thrilled to have our story and work featured on Style Me Pretty Midwest today! You can read the full piece and to learn more about us and an exclusive deal here!  [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7096" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Real Wedding: Jenny + Drew

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_column_text]

As a follow up to this Inspiration to Reality teaser – I thought you deserved to see how the dreamy day really came together.

The couple was gifted a beautiful mid-October day. There was a crisp and fresh note to the air as guests arrived at St. Chrysostom’s Church for the ceremony. Nestled on a residential block in the heart of the Gold Coast, the church opens up to a beautiful courtyard that seemed built to perfection, for a dramatic Grand Exit.

 [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13088" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

During the ceremony, we hung the church doors with greenery wreaths, complete with the couple’s married monogram.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="5842" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

And as friends and family of the newlyweds poured out of the church doors, each snuck fistfuls of bold fuchsia petals to shower the glowing couple as they departed.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13089" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Guests arrived to The History Museum for a cocktail hour held (cozily) indoors in Robinson Gallery. The escort card table featured a floor-length sequin linen, blue china vases with bundles of fuchsia garden roses and spray roses, and a collection of special photos of family members on their wedding day, captured years prior.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13090" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Crisp white linens and white chiavari chairs were paired with whimsical navy and white striped chair cushions and darling lacquered urns of boxwood spheres.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13091" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The bridesmaids’ bouquets were collected at the start of the cocktail hour (free hands for bubbles and bites!). They were composed of fuchsia garden and spray roses bound by navy and white striped grosgrain ribbons.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13092" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The low centerpieces were designed in oblong white ceramic vases and also featured a lush mound of monochromatic fuchsia roses.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13094" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Alternating centerpieces gave the room dimension and volume. The elevated centerpieces were composed of an oversized tailored burst of foliage, accented at the base by (faux) candlelight and petite floral arrangements.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13095" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The cake was especially delicious…baked by the bride’s (and the wedding planner’s!) favorite bakery in town – Sweet Mandy B’s.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13096" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The ceremony altar arrangements also got double-use as pretty focal pieces at the reception.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13097" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The couple dined with darling, special flatware.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13098" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Once the escort card table had been cleared, we loaded the shimmering sequins with platters of sweet treats, bowls of candies and lollies and sacks of cotton candy.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13099" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]Jenny, Drew and her family were such a true pleasure to work with…from the day we all met for the first time, through the very last dance. Bliss wishes them continued best wishes and SO MUCH LOVE!!  [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

The Knot Chicago: Erin & Eric

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_column_text] The Bliss Buzz continues welcoming Chicago into spring! We could not be happier to have one of our gorgeous summer weddings at The Chicago Botanic Gardens featured in the new issue of The Knot Chicago. [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="10799" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text] Our Bliss Beau, Jesse Deckard, started his full service planning career, building off of his extensive design background, with a bang; creating a fete inspired by the charm and ease of the couple and their relationship. Erin & Eric (also known as E2 celebrated with 200 of their friends and family last August on a beautiful Chicago summer day. Their ceremony took place in the Rose Garden under an ethereal yet organic canopy of whites and greens with simple chiffon blowing in the breeze. With the ceremony lead by the bride's aunt, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Cocktails took place in the ever so charming gated English Walled Garden surrounded by blooming beauty and the reflection pond. Warm candlelight hues bathed the serene setting and rustic garden lanterns twinkling with pillar candles were suspended above by organic wild smilax vines. Ashley & Johnny on Style Me Pretty

[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

We are so honored to have one of our fab summer weddings from 2013 featured on Style Me Pretty. Ashley & Johnny had the perfect outdoor ceremony in Wrigley Square on the type of day we can all only dream about right now. After the ceremony the wedding party led guests to cocktail hour at Terzo Piano and then to dinner and dancing in Griffin Court at the Modern Wing. The decor of prisms and ombre throughout the entire event was so chic.

Real Wedding: Whitney & Rob

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Bliss Weddings & Events is delighted to be featured on Style Me Pretty Illinois today! Katie, of Bliss Weddings & Events, created a beautiful wedding that incorporated tiny touches important to the bride and groom that fit into the preppy, elegant style of their big day. Large monogram moss letters, a chalkboard menu and bar sign, a fully loaded candy bar, mix matched vintage plates, plenty of votive candles and their closest friends and family filled the beautiful space of The Ivy Room. The bride, Whitney, chose the perfect preppy palette: Navy, Ivory, pink and touches of natural greens. The couple said their I do's at Chicago's gorgeous St. James Cathedral, before dancing the night away with the help of The Larry King Orchestra. We are so grateful to have been able to help these lovebirds with their special day and wish them the absolute best from the Bliss Belles! Katie's write up on Style Me Pretty Illinois about Whitney and Rob: "From Katie Kozlowski of Bliss Weddings & EventsWhitney and Rob are fun, friendly, family-oriented and have impeccable taste. They wanted to bring special touches of their personality to their inspired Chicago wedding at St. James and the Ivy Room, all while keeping the wedding comfortable, elegant and special. We wanted it to feel as though Whitney and Rob had invited all of their closest family and friends to their home away from home for a special celebration. Using the preppy palette of navy, ivory, pink and natural greens, we complemented the dreamy Ivy Room courtyard with moss-letters in their initials, delicate blooms and cutie details, like stir sticks for the bars with the couples’ monogram and a hand-written dinner menu on a chalkboard (Whitney’s a teacher!). Once guests got inside for dinner, polished tables with mismatched china, tiny lapel wax blooms on each plate, and different centerpieces on each table set the stage. We used a variety of candlesticks, vases and blooms, as well as soft pin-spotting, up-lighting and drapes to welcome guests to dinner. No detail was overlooked, with a candy bar to pay homage to the bride’s love of sweets, and a surprise video-speech from the groom’s brother stationed in Afghanistan. And of course, there was the fun: A Polaroid camera and scrapbook provided guests with a chance to leave their personal message, The Larry King Orchestra kept guests on the dance floor all night, and Chicago-themed late night snacks recharged the dancers."

Real Wedding: Danielle & Eric

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

With the gorgeous weather Chicago had this past weekend we wanted to feature this outside wedding of past clients that we adored, Danielle & Eric. A wonderful list of vendors helped to make this backyard tent wedding at a Private Residence in Evanston a complete success. The bright floral arrangements were done by Event Creative, while Olivia Leigh Photographie captured all the moments of their big day. Guests sat comfortably at farm style tables and ate a wonderful meal by Food for Thought Catering. Danielle wore a fabulous gown by Carolina Herrera and was careful not to get any icing on it from her Sweet Mandy B's Cupcakes! We couldn't have had more fun planning this rustic-glam celebration off of the gorgeous shore of Lake Michigan. Thank you to everyone involved!

Real Wedding: Corrine & Chuck

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Gosh I love what i do!  What a way to start off the 2010 wedding season! I get to work with amazing couples like Corrine & Chuck.  They are the most gorgeous, sweetest, coolest couples ever.  We had a ball planning their incredible wedding at the Chicago Illuminating Company.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="11590" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="11591" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

I was in LOVE with their colors:  Cornflower (Bliss) blue, white and graphite.  SO PRETTY!  Their ceremony was mostly all white with a fabulous blue fabric canopy with their monogram of CC in white floral hanging behind them.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="11592" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The square guest tables were dressed in graphite gorgeous linens.  The chairs were white chiavari with white cushions.  So clean and crisp.  The Dreamy Spring centerpieces were set in square white low containers filled with all white flowers - hydrangea, peonies, stock, roses, lilac, tulips and ranunculus.  Ahhhhh.  A Bride's dream come true!

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="11593" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The day couldn't go any better.  The weather was perfect and not one hiccup.  They started at the mouth watering new hotel, The Elysian.  Look at these amazing pics in their foyer.  When can i move in?

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="11594" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="11595" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The evening was magical.  Everyone danced the night away.  We incorporated the blue into the room with yards of gorgeous cornflower blue fabric panels we dramatically pulled back after cocktail hour to welcome guests into the dining area.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="11596" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

At the very end, we did a wonderful sparkler send off for Corrine & Chuck.  Everyone lined the brick alley with festive sparklers.  Look at these.  They were nearly 4 feet long!  LOVE this pic.

What a night!  A HUGE hug and kiss congrats from all of us at Bliss.  We can't wait to celebrate with you next time you come in town. xoxox
