Becky & Nilay: A Boldly Beautiful Affair

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Becky and Nilay's two — you heard us right, two! — magnificent celebrations were infused with touches of contemporary glamour and cultural beauty, making for a truly magical day that was just as vibrant and joyous as this amazing couple that met while they lived next to one another in a dorm at their alma mater, the University of Chicago.

While it may have taken Becky and Nilay eight years following their first encounter to begin dating, they could no longer deny their love for one another and have been inseparable ever since.

The former dorm neighbors became engaged and wanted a wedding day that was a perfect representation of their multi-cultural backgrounds. The day began with a beautiful Hindu ceremony in the ornate ballroom of the JW Marriott. Becky walked down a flower-petal-lined aisle in a dazzling gold and red sari while surrounded by oodles of bold-hued flowers. Following their first ceremony, the couple said their 'I Do's' in an evening Christian ceremony that took place at the uniquely modern Bridgeport Art Center.

Guests then headed to the ultra modern and chic Skyline Loft at the Bridgeport Art Center for the couple's reception. From sequin-adorned table cloths and accessories to lush pink floral centerpieces to a 60' projector screening the couple's favorite videos and songs, this reception was filled with bold hints of glamour, modernity and pure bliss.

Congratulations, Becky and Nilay![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7086" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="7087" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="7088" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]Thanks to Studio This Is for the fabulous photos and to all the other talented vendors that brought this magical day to life!

Bliss Featured on Style Me Pretty Midwest

Real Wedding: Jenny + Drew

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_column_text]

As a follow up to this Inspiration to Reality teaser – I thought you deserved to see how the dreamy day really came together.

The couple was gifted a beautiful mid-October day. There was a crisp and fresh note to the air as guests arrived at St. Chrysostom’s Church for the ceremony. Nestled on a residential block in the heart of the Gold Coast, the church opens up to a beautiful courtyard that seemed built to perfection, for a dramatic Grand Exit.

 [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13088" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

During the ceremony, we hung the church doors with greenery wreaths, complete with the couple’s married monogram.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="5842" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

And as friends and family of the newlyweds poured out of the church doors, each snuck fistfuls of bold fuchsia petals to shower the glowing couple as they departed.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13089" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Guests arrived to The History Museum for a cocktail hour held (cozily) indoors in Robinson Gallery. The escort card table featured a floor-length sequin linen, blue china vases with bundles of fuchsia garden roses and spray roses, and a collection of special photos of family members on their wedding day, captured years prior.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13090" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Crisp white linens and white chiavari chairs were paired with whimsical navy and white striped chair cushions and darling lacquered urns of boxwood spheres.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13091" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The bridesmaids’ bouquets were collected at the start of the cocktail hour (free hands for bubbles and bites!). They were composed of fuchsia garden and spray roses bound by navy and white striped grosgrain ribbons.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13092" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The low centerpieces were designed in oblong white ceramic vases and also featured a lush mound of monochromatic fuchsia roses.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13094" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Alternating centerpieces gave the room dimension and volume. The elevated centerpieces were composed of an oversized tailored burst of foliage, accented at the base by (faux) candlelight and petite floral arrangements.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13095" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The cake was especially delicious…baked by the bride’s (and the wedding planner’s!) favorite bakery in town – Sweet Mandy B’s.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13096" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The ceremony altar arrangements also got double-use as pretty focal pieces at the reception.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13097" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

The couple dined with darling, special flatware.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13098" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]

Once the escort card table had been cleared, we loaded the shimmering sequins with platters of sweet treats, bowls of candies and lollies and sacks of cotton candy.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="13099" alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_large="" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]Jenny, Drew and her family were such a true pleasure to work with…from the day we all met for the first time, through the very last dance. Bliss wishes them continued best wishes and SO MUCH LOVE!!  [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Real Wedding & One Heck of a Year!

It was one year ago this week that a favorite Bliss Client married the man of her dreams (truly – they are mad about one another!).

It was a beautiful winter - not exactly wintry - wedding.  And since their big day, Maggie and Tony have already been blessed with a (ridiculously gorgeous) baby girl, Avery.  Because of this, I thought I’d share a few photos from the most glamorous day of their lives.

Maggie and her gaggle of girls dressed at the Ritz Carlton Chicago (also the location of the reception).  Everyone wore coordinating monogrammed button-downs, gifted by the bride, as a comfortable and practical way to relax during the hours of hair and make-up!

Maggie’s beautiful custom dress was designed in collaboration with Mira Couture and featured the bride’s new monogram embroidered in blue.

The ceremony was held at Old St. Pat’s (the oldest standing church in the City – it survived the Chicago fire!) and could easily accommodate the couple’s 300+ besties. The chalice that was used for communion is a special family heirloom given to the bride’s grandparents in Ireland.

The bride wore her great grandmother’s dreamy mink stole to ward off the January breezes.

As the cocktail hour came to an end, The Shannon Rovers lead guests to the ballroom for dinner with a heck-of-a-dramatic parade of drums and bagpipes.

The muted palette of creams, champagnes and mixed metallics provided the perfect wintry setting for Maggie, Tony and their guests.  A combination of linens were used alternately around the room:  rose gold sequins, silver silks as well as silver sequins.  Icy acrylic chairs allowed the special linens do all the talking.

Floral and décor was designed by our very own Jesse Deckard (back in his Event Creative Days).  Going for a snowy-mounded effect, Jesse used monofloral bundles and clouds of gypsophelia (ok, ok, babies breath), Dutch hydrangea and velvety dusty miller foliage.  He also used various crystal and metallic containers and votive cups paired with raw, natural peeling birch bark trunks.

The couple danced to Keith Urban’s You’re Everything, performed by Larry King Orchestra.   Lifesize birch trees were strung with crystals and suspended candles and cornered off the (massive) dance floor (that was packed in mere moments!)

The evening was filled with some seriously sentimental touches ....A truly beautiful and heart-melting toast by the brides other –and original- favorite man: her father, as well as a surprise toast given by the bride’s 27 cousins!

And although Maggie and Tony had visions of fluffy snowflakes creating a swirling snow-globe setting for their January winter wedding, Mother Nature keeps us Chicagoans on our toes and, instead, delivered a few days of unexpected warmth leading up to their celebration.  Instead of snow-boots, the couple’s most necessary accessory ended up being the oversized umbrellas that allowed them to sneak out of their reception for just a few kisses under the twinkling streetlights of Michigan Avenue.

I was so truly and completely honoured to have been a part of this special couple’s planning journey – and I so appreciated witnessing the love, admiration and adoration among their close-knit families as well as one another.  Bliss wishes them the happiest of anniversaries!

Xx Kara

Real Wedding: Meghan + Steve

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Meghan & Steve are such a fun and laid-back couple to be around that planning their wedding was a total joy!  When they came to us, they weren’t sure exactly what they wanted for their big day other than great food, beautiful décor and an abundance of personal touches.  When we decided on the Redfield Estate in Glenview for their ceremony and reception, we just knew the gorgeous lush grounds would be the perfect fit for an intimate celebration with both romantic and rustic touches. Even though their ceremony had to be moved indoors at the last minute due to weather, Meghan & Steve remained happy and telling jokes the whole time.  The indoor space for the ceremony turned out to be a beautifully intimate space which we covered in plenty of organic greenery and garland to bring the outdoors in.  Thankfully the weather cleared and guests moved to the courtyard for cocktails where they picked up escort cards placed on individual stems of craspedia set up in a bed of green moss.

Working with a color scheme of soft grey, mustard yellow and clean white, Fleur created laid back florals in a mix of vintage milk glass and turquoise glass placed on grey washed farm tables.   Timeless elegance was added to the tablescape with luxe crystal cut chargers, lace table runners and etched glass stemware.

After a delicious dinner, guests danced the night away taking breaks to snack from the abundant cheese bar or the sprawling sweets table adorned with several types of cake and an array of mini sweets all displayed on vintage cake pedestals.  As a late night surprise for the groom, a custom cigar roller accompanied a cigar & whiskey bar!

Fall Wedding Inspiration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Well its officially Fall as of a few days ago! Pumpkin spice lattes are waking us up every morning, we have been shopping for new boots and pulling out our cozy sweaters from storage (and we have of course been sipping on fall-inspired cocktails!). While we just adore a gorgeous summer day wedding filled with sunshine, there is something special in the air with a fall wedding on a crisp autumn day. Here's some of our favorite fall wedding images currently inspiring us: [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7130" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{gorgeous photos surrounded by the changing leaves}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7131" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{a lush fall inspired bridal bouquet}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7132" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{harvest inspired centerpieces of magnolia leaf, pomegranates, garden roses & hibernicum berry}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7133" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{a tasty muddling bar to warm guests up from our inspiration shoot featured on Style Me Pretty right here}[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7134" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_single_image image="7135" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][vc_column_text]{a cake adorned in a rich fall color palette}[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Happy labor day weekend!

Wishing you a very happy Labor Day weekend as we all say farewell to summer and hello to back to school!! Hopefully you can squeeze in one last beach getaway before Tuesday rolls around- myabe even on crowded North Avenue Beach captured in the above photo by Gray Malin).  The team here at Bliss will be busy planning two gorgeous weddings this Sunday including one at our fave, The Art Institute and another out at the lush Medinah Country Club.  Be sure to stay tuned to our Instagram & Facebook for some behind the scenes.

Ring Bearer Style

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of our favorite parts of a wedding ceremony is watching the adorable ring bearer & flower girl make their way down the aisle. It's usually a fun moment that delights guests, gives everyone a little chuckle and definitely a big smile - plus usually calms down any nerves the groom might be feeling up until that moment. Flower Girls can be so much fun to shop for, (we even put together a fun inspiration board for them here) but ring bearers can prove to be just as fun especially if you step outside the box a little bit. Here's some inspiration for the youngsters in your bridal party:  [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7138" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The Bliss Studio

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]While there were plenty of sneak peeks of our new studio space in the photos from our Kiki Party, we thought it would be fun to share some proper photos of the space when it isn't in party mode! After a long search for the perfect space, we finally found this gem right around the corner from some of the best restaurants and shopping in Wicker Park/Bucktown. With a little inspiration, a few coats of paint and tearing down a couple walls this space started transforming into the Bliss Weddings & Events Studio back in early December.

Renny scoured our favorite antique stores, Jayson Home & Garden, and One Kings Lane to find the perfect furniture and accessories to compliment the color story of navy, white, kelly green, fuchsia pink, and metallic gold.

Our favorite parts of the studio include the fabulous silver and kelly green metallic palm leaf wallpaper in the powder room, the comfy chic seating area and of course- the bar cart set against fabulous metallic snakeskin wallpaper!!

Thank you to Studio ThisIs for the great pics!

It's Peony Season!!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We look forward to the short springtime peony season every year like it is Christmas!!  We just love seeing those beautiful shades of pink and fuschia peonies pop up at the flower mart (not to mention the luxe look of white peonies!).   These fluffy flowers add such a beautiful touch to a bridal bouquet or a feminine addition to a centerpiece.  Here are few images of peonies that are inspiring us right now - including a little snapshot of the massive peony bouquet we have brightening up the Bliss Weddings Studio currently!

Kiki Kiss Mirror

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There weren't just fabulous dancers and delicious drinks at our Kiki party, there was also the now infamous "kiki kiss mirror." As guests arrived, they were given a "kiki lip" in either bright fuchsia pink or marvelous red courtesy of the talented ladies at Reiman Condron Beauty! We then set up a mirror outside of the powder room for guests to leave their Kiki kiss as well as their signature claiming their smooch! We were inspired for the Kiki kiss mirror from our very own Kara Superfine who has guests sign their names using lipstick on the bathroom mirror at her annual holiday bash! What a fun idea for a bachelorette hotel room or even a saucy bridal shower!!

Bliss Studio Reveal: KIKI PARTY!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Over the holidays, we moved into our fabulous new studio space with our studio mates Reiman Condron Beauty, Cheree Berry Paper & Studio This Is Photography.  We have been working non stop to get this space outfitted in a way that reflects Bliss' unique style in a color scheme of deep navy, creamy white, bright fuchsia & emerald green.  After furnishing the space exactly to our liking, we knew we had to throw a opening party worthy of the space and after little bit of brainstorming, we decided the ONLY way to welcome this space into our world was with A KIKI PARTY!! See the inspiration behind the party right here. A few weeks ago, the kiki party came to be and it was an absolute hit complete with paper goods by Cheree Berry, food by Blue Plate , photography by Studio This is, wine provided by Oliver Wines, kiki themed cocktails created by the Bliss team, valet by VIP valet, and beautiful florals/design by our own Jesse Deckard with rentals provided by Hall's and linens from Private Label! Kiki Party Inspiration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hopefully you have already seen a few of the sneek peaks on our facebook page from our fabulous Kiki Party that we threw a few weeks ago to celebrate the new Bliss studios (if not then head over and check out those shots right here). Next week we will be sharing all of the fun images from the bash, but today we have a little inspiration board behind the party's theme! The entire party theme was based off the catchy Scissor Sisters song "Let's Have a Kiki" - be aware that YOU WILL get that song stuck in your head all day long! Along with the marrrrrrvelous kiki theme, we used a bright color scheme of bright pink, emerald green, rich navy and silver sequin (just so happens to go along with Bliss' signature colors!) You will have to check back next week to find out about all the other kiki details that guests were treated to...  [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="7182" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" img_size="full"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
