Real Wedding: Kristin & Ted

Renny had the pleasure of planning a wedding this past August for an adorable duo, Kristin and Ted. After saying their I Do’s at the St. James Cathedral, their beyond stunning reception took place at the historical Drake Hotel. Positioned right along Lake Michigan, The Drake Hotel was the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous reception that had hints of a preppy, nautical vibe (not to mention, Ted proposed to Kristin outside the Drake under the gazebo). The décor centered around a classic navy and pink palette with stunning pops of gold as seen through the flowers by Cornelia McNamara, while the table numbers were street names of Chicago that had personal meaning to both Kristin & Ted. The cake was by a local bakery on Oak Street, Sarah’s Candies, and was positioned under the couple’s wedding monogram that hung above the head table. Olivia Leigh Photographie was there to capture all the special moments, we had a hard time choosing them for our blog! Congrats Kristin & Ted!

The ladies were all smiles as they got ready in the Princess Diana Suite at the Drake Hotel.

The gorgeous St. James Cathedral.

The navy and pink palette carried through to the guest’s ribbon wands.

Ahoy! It’s a Boy!

We hosted an amazing baby shower for the ever fabulous Kara Superfine, one of our lead wedding planners here at Bliss. The nautical themed baby shower took place under a cabana in Renny’s backyard. All 20 guests sat beneath the navy and white gathered fabric tied with yellow chevron tie backs at a long feasting table dressed in heavy white hemstitch linens, a custom made yellow chevron runner, yellow chevron napkins, vintage basketweave chargers, etched glassware, heirloom mixed flatware and nautical coasters.
Down the middle of the grand feasting table sat vintage brass, milk glass and cut crystal containers  overflowing with the most gorgeous yellow garden roses,  hydrangea, ranunculus, camomile, blueberry viburnum, and scented geranium.
Small brunch bites were served to our guests. The menu included blueberry donut hole pops, mini quiche, mini almond bundt cakes, yogurt parfaits, mango gazpacho shooters, heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad and smoked salmon free form maki.
Iced Aztec chocolate shooters , apple tartin and a fresh fruit tart were passed around for dessert. Blueberry rosemary lemonade, mango bellini’s, white wine and pellegrino were offered as guests arrived and throughout the afternoon.
Congrats to the mommy-to-be!! We asked our guests to write any advice for Smooth Sailing for the first time Mom, we would love you to do the same!! Please leave your advice in our “Chit Chat” section!
