Guys Pre-Wedding Beauty Routine

August 19, 2019

This one is for all of the grooms out there wondering how they can look their best for their wedding day. Ladies aren’t the only ones who need to look great, so do you! Wedding planning can be a whirlwind, especially when you’re watching your bride-to-be do a 20 step skincare routine every night. If you’re intimidated, have no fear. Your beauty routine can be simple and effective so that you look refreshed and handsome for your big day.

WASH YOUR FACE

This step may seem obvious, but many men aren’t mindfully washing their face in the morning and at night. Be more likely to wash your face by purchasing a face wash that can be used daily. If you have specific skin concerns, like acne or hyperpigmentation, then doing this step will aid in the healing process for your skin. A facial cleanser is perfect for men because it can help with dry, dull skin without being super harsh. It is great for daily use or even in the shower. Cleansing morning and night will help get rid of dead skin cells and oils that have accumulated on your skin to reveal bright and replenished skin!

KEEP THAT FACIAL HAIR IN CHECK

How you wear your facial hair can definitely change your look, but how you shave will affect your skin. Shaving your face incorrectly can cause irritated skin and ingrown hairs. The best time to shave is after washing your face so that the hair is softened and your pores will be more open. For the most effective shave, use the right materials: a shaving gel and a razor with multiple blades. If you’re not sure what items to get, check out this complete collection of shave sets, tools, and solutions. If the blades are rusted or look unclean then replace it with a new one for a safer shave. Always shave in the direction of hair growth to reduce nicks and irritation. If you prefer a really close shave, then only shave against the grain after reapplying your shaving gel.

EAT RIGHT

How you eat will also affect your skin. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and eventually receives all the effects of your diet. You don’t have to skip the pizza or chocolate, but you can start incorporating more skin healthy food into your meals! Foods high in antioxidants, like dark chocolate and yellow peppers, can help give you bright skin and reduce wrinkles. If you have sensitive skin, then starting drinking green tea to diminish inflammation and redness. To take this one step further, you can look for skincare products that have these foods as ingredients to get the same effects. Check out this green tea face mask for an easy fix to redness from acne!

GET SOME REST

Getting a full night’s sleep is essential for great skin! The old saying about beauty sleep is true because sleep gives your body time to repair any damage to your skin from the day before. Your skin will look plump and hydrated when you stick to a consistent sleep schedule of 7 to 8 hours a night. This can be hard with work, wedding planning, and the rest of your daily activities, but try to create a routine that makes it work. To fall asleep faster, stop checking Twitter or watching Netflix before bed! Leave your phone on do not disturb and read a book to encourage relaxation and melatonin for better sleep.

See you on the big day! XO Bliss Weddings & Events
